Organizations

Organizations represent business entities within your company structure in LMI. They can represent branches, divisions, subsidiaries, or any other organizational unit that needs to be tracked separately for operational or reporting purposes.

Each external system configured for your company will have an input field where you can enter the corresponding ID used in that system. This enables data synchronization and cross-referencing between LMI and your other business systems.

Understanding Organization Relationships

Organizations in LMI can be associated with:

  • Service Areas - Geographic regions for operations and reporting
  • External Systems - IDs in other business systems (ERP, accounting, etc.)
  • Company - The parent company that owns this organization

Best Practices

Naming Conventions

  • Use consistent naming patterns across organizations (e.g., “Region - City” or “Division - Department”)
  • Keep abbreviations short but meaningful (2-4 characters recommended)
  • Ensure abbreviations are unique within your company

Service Area Assignment

  • Assign service areas to enable geographic filtering and reporting
  • Organizations without service areas may be excluded from certain geographic reports

External System IDs

  • Enter external system IDs when setting up organizations to enable data synchronization
  • Keep external IDs up to date when changes occur in connected systems
  • Contact your administrator if you need to add new external system connections

Troubleshooting

Organization not appearing in search results

  • Check if the organization is archived (archived organizations are hidden from the list)
  • Verify the search term matches part of the organization name
  • Clear any active filters that may be excluding the organization

Cannot edit organization

  • Verify you have the appropriate permissions (ORGANIZATIONS_PAGE role required)
  • Check that you are logged in to the correct company account

External system fields not showing

  • External system fields only appear if your company has configured external system integrations
  • Contact your administrator to set up external system connections in Settings → External Systems
